Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr.

Take a fantastic musical adventure with an out-of-this-world car that flies through the air and sails the seas. Based on the record-breaking West End production and the beloved film, and featuring an unforgettable score by the Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr. is one blockbuster that audiences will find “Truly Scrumptious.”

Eccentric inventor, Caractacus Potts, sets about restoring an old race car with the help of his children Jeremy and Jemima. They soon discover the car is magic, and has the ability to float and take flight. When the evil Baron Bomburst desires the magic car for himself, the family joins forces with Truly Scrumptious and Grandpa Potts to outwit the dastardly Baron and Baroness and their villainous henchman, the Child Catcher.

Filled with amazing stage spectacle and unforgettable songs, including the Academy Award nominated title song, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr. is a high-flying fun-filled adventure that will dazzle audiences and Broadway Junior Stars alike.

Act 2 (grades 7-9)

Bye Bye Birdie

A loving send-up of the 1950s, small-town America, teenagers, and rock & roll, Bye Bye Birdie remains as fresh and vibrant as ever. Teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie has been drafted, so he chooses All-American girl Kim MacAfee for a very public farewell kiss. Featuring a tuneful high-energy score, plenty of great parts for teens, and a hilarious script, Birdie continues to thrill audiences around the world.

Teenagers, rock & roll and national television – Bye Bye Birdie captures the energy and excitement of the late 1950s with warmth, hilarity and an exuberant score.

Act 3 (grades 10-12 & ’25 grads)

Legally Blonde The Musical

A fabulously fun award-winning musical based on the adored movie, Legally Blonde The Musical, follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Action-packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic dances – this musical is so much fun, it should be illegal!

Elle Woods appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside down when her boyfriend Warner dumps her so he can attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle ingeniously charms her way into the prestigious law school. While there, she struggles with peers, professors and her ex. With the support of some new friends, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world.

AUDITION & CASTING PROCESS

All students registered are guaranteed placement in a Summer Festival production. Auditions for each show will take place on the first day of the festival, July 7th. Audition information will be provided to all registered families closer to the start of the festival.

In casting, we take several things into account:

  1. Information we have gathered during auditions and callbacks.
  2. The technical requirements of each role.
  3. The learning goals of each actor and how this young performer can grow.
  4. Rehearsal and performance conflicts.
  5. Attitude towards staff, fellow actors, and the space.

At the end of the casting process, we place students in the role that best suits the artistic and educational needs of the production and student. This is clearly communicated with families through a casting form that explores the experience and growth we hope to offer each actor.

Our full philosophy and casting announcement policy is available upon request. All families who register will receive this information.

TYPICAL SUMMER FESTIVAL DAY

Our program begins at 8:30am and ends at 2:30pm. To accommodate families’ schedules, students may be dropped off as early as 8:10am and can be picked up no later than 2:45pm.

In rehearsal, actors work with an artistic team that includes a Director, Music Director, Choreographer, and Stage Manager. Students are actively engaged to the fullest, learning material for the shows and important skills useful for both artistic advancement and personal achievement.

In addition to rehearsals, students participate in weekly workshops in various theatre disciplines during each of the first 4 weeks of the program. Workshops are designed to further develop actors’ skills in acting, dancing, and singing – useful not only for their current Summer Festival production, but for future shows as well.
