YOUNG COMPANY CABARET
You’re the main character! Introducing the Young Company Cabaret: a five-week musical theatre performance class for actors in grades 7-12, focusing on artistry and technique in each area of the triple threat: music, movement, and expression. Co-directed by one music director and one choreographer, the participants will study and stage excerpts from popular musicals. The course will culminate in a fully-staged, workshop-style performance on the mainstage at Greater Boston Stage Company. In this intimate, small-ensemble setting, each actor will enjoy focused, individualized coaching as they study duet, trios, quartets (and more!) in which each actor plays a principal role.

HOW IT WORKS
The program starts with a “Workshop Week” in which we will work on ensemble-building, the full-cast ensemble number, and getting to know one another and our individual strengths. The week that follows will be school vacation week. While there will be no rehearsals during this week, the instructors will be hard at work during this time, deciding on and distributing the scene assignments, which the actors are encouraged to start practicing independently as soon as they are received. Following vacation week, the class will meet on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5:00-8:00pm. The final performance will take place on Saturday, May 21st at 4:00pm.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
These programs are held indoors in a well-ventilated space in which social distancing can be accommodated. Proof of full-vaccination against COVID-19 is required (exceptions to this policy with respect to medical or religious exemptions are subject to approval by the theatre and may be considered on a case by case basis). Masks are required during rehearsals, but the final presentation will be performed unmasked. Please reach out to julia@greaterbostonstage.org with any questions regarding our Health & Safety plan.
