Young Company Auditions

Welcome, actors!

We are thrilled that you’ve decided to audition for Winter Fest 2023!

Complete your audition in four easy steps:

1. Review the production calendar and identify any conflicts (you will be asked to list these in the next step). Conflicts & availability are considered when making casting decisions, so please be honest and thorough. Auditions for Winter Fest are considered for roles in multiple shows, so please be prepared to indicate your availability for all titles which include your actor’s age group. The calendar can be downloaded here.

2. Schedule your audition!
Select your audition slot and fill out your registration form.

3. Prepare your selections. For your audition, please prepare both of the following:

  • A one minute monologue from a piece of media of your choice. If you don’t already have a piece in mind, you’re welcome to choose one from this collection. As one of our favorite YoCo instructors likes to say, “Monologues can come from anywhere! Your favorite play, book, musical or movie, a story your mom tells repeatedly that you now know by heart, a conversation you had at the McDonald’s drive through! Anywhere! If YOU believe it, we will too.”
  • one minute cut of a song of your choice. You’re welcome to sing anything that makes you feel good! Musical theatre, folk songs, pop songs, songs from your favorite video games – all are welcome! Sing it with a karaoke track, a capella, or accompanying yourself, if you’d like! If you’re looking for a place to start, this collection of 1 minute song cuts contains some great options (many of them have links to accompaniment tracks!). Note: this audition will not have a live pianist. If you choose to sing with a backing track, please plan to bring a device on which you can play it.

4. Audition and shine like the star you are.

Auditions will be held in the large rehearsal room, downstairs at the theatre. To find us, look for the entrance two doors to the right of the main theatre entrance (it has our logo on it!), come down the stairs, and check in with the stage manager.

On your audition day, along with your acting and singing audition, you will be asked to attend a 20-minute dance during which you will learn a short combination of steps that you will then perform in small groups with other students. Please wear clothes you can move in, including sneakers and dance shoes!

Please plan to arrive at least five minutes before your first appointment. We can’t wait to see you!

If you need any help, please reach out to our education department with questions or concerns at any time (julia@greaterbostonstage.org).
