Young Company Policies

BEHAVIOR CLAUSE
The Young Company at Greater Boston Stage Company is committed to providing a fun and supportive environment for all involved. To create this, we expect parents and students to:
  • Respect one another, which includes:
    • Speaking to all participants and parents courteously
    • Not physically bothering, harming, teasing or harassing another person
    • Adhering to other requirements as specified for individual productions, classes, or lessons as noted by the Instructor, Director, or Stage Manager
  • Respect the space, which includes:
    • Not damaging the space or equipment in the theatre, rehearsal rooms, schools, or office
    • Following the rules as set by the Stage and Production Manager
  • Respecting the staff, which includes:
    • Choreographers, Stage Managers, Directors, Assistant Directors, Music Directors, Production Managers, and other instructors
    •  Greater Boston Stage Company  Staff
Consequences for Unacceptable Behavior:
We have a three strike policy in the event of unacceptable behavior on the part of the student.
  • First: the participant’s behavior will be addressed in person by an instructor or staff member. Parental figures or guardians will be notified of this meeting. Our goal is to develop a positive working relationship with the participant, and find a way to make sure that he or she can participate fully in our theatre program.
  • Second: should unacceptable behavior continue, parents or guardians will be asked to meet with Young Company instructors and staff. Our hope is that this meeting will help us learn more about the problem, and that we can devise strategies to both support the participant and the production or class moving forward.
  • Third: if the behavior continues, and no satisfactory solution can be found, Greater Boston Stage Company Instructors and staff reserve the right to remove the participant from the production or class/lesson. We take our responsibility towards the safety and educational experience of all participants seriously and must ensure that the quality of The Young Company programs is preserved.
Special Needs or Concerns:
The Young Company at Greater Boston Stage Company strives to be an inclusive environment. Parents or guardians need to notify us of any special needs or concerns, particularly related to learning issues, behavioral issues, medication, and allergies, so that we can insure the safety of all participants. If for any reason we believe that participation in The Young Company is not in the best interest of the student or the program as a whole, the parent or guardian will be consulted.
