Greater Boston Stage Company’s Theatre for Young Audiences Series returns Season 27 with four exciting productions for students and families! This year’s series features three nationally touring TheaterWorksUSA productions, The Magic School Bus: Lost in the Solar System, Clifford the Big Red Dog: The Musical, and The Pout-Pout Fish, along with GBSC’s own production of Matilda The Musical. Each production offers weekday student matinees for school groups, plus select public performances, bringing beloved stories to life while inspiring imagination, curiosity, and a lifelong love of theatre.

THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS
March 2027
Student Matinees: March 4th and 5th at 9:30 am and 11:45 am.
Public Performance: March 5th at 7 pm.
When the class gets lost on the way to the planetarium, Ms. Frizzle saves the day by blasting into outer space for an epic interplanetary field trip! But when rivalries both old and new threaten to tear the students apart, our young heroes must learn to pull together or risk getting forever lost in the solar system.
Hop on the Magic School Bus for a ride in this new musical adaptation based on the original book series published by Scholastic.

CLIFFORD THE BIG RED DOG
May 2027

Everyone’s favorite Big Red Dog, CLIFFORD, bounds onto the stage in a brand-new musical celebrating friendship, imagination, and unconditional love! Emily Elizabeth adores her tiny red puppy, but her GIANT love makes Clifford grow into a GIANT. When the family moves to Birdwell Island, Clifford worries his enormous size is keeping Emily Elizabeth from making friends.
After wishing he were small again, Clifford soon discovers that only a BIG red dog can save Emily Elizabeth and her new friends. Filled with laughs, heart, and adventure, Clifford The Big Red Dog: The Musical is the paw-fect show for young fans and the parents who grew up with Clifford.

THE POUT-POUT FISH

Turn the poutiest of frowns upside down in this musical featuring whimsical puppets and live performers in a sweeping oceanic adventure. When Mr. Fish sets out on a quest to find Miss Clam’s missing pearl, he discovers there is more to him than his permanently plastered pout.
This colorful adaptation of The New York Times bestseller is co-conceived, directed, and designed by the acclaimed puppeteers of AchesonWalsh Studios, whose work was featured in Broadway’s The King And I, On the Town, and Radio City’s New York Spectacular. Writing team includes New Victory LabWorks Residency recipients Christopher Anselmo, Jared Corak, Matt Acheson, and Fergus Walsh.

MATILDA THE MUSICAL

Based on the beloved novel by the brilliantly batty Roald Dahl, this larger-than-life Broadway musical follows Matilda, an extraordinary girl with a brilliant mind, vivid imagination, and a spark of magic all her own. Constantly belittled by her prickly parents and terrorized by her tyrannical headmistress, she refuses to let their small-mindedness hold her back.
With the help of her loyal friends and her kind-hearted teacher, Matilda dares to take a stand, using her wit, courage, and a touch of mischief to turn her world upside down. Bursting with unforgettable songs, dazzling dance numbers, and pure theatrical magic, Matilda the Musical is a joyous celebration of cleverness, courage, and the extraordinary power within us all.
