 Hello Friends!
We have missed you so much. Over the last few months, the staff at GBSC has been taking the time to care for our families, working on our beginning anti-racist action steps, and looking forward to returning back to our wonderful theatre.

We are happy to bring new Young Company programming to you all. It will certainly be different than what we have previously offered, but we are excited to see what amazing work, fun and education can happen in these new mediums.
Whether you’re looking to support classroom education, expand your theatrical knowledge, or just have some fun, we’ve got something for you!

If you have any questions or concerns please do reach out as we would love to hear from you.

A note on communication: while we are opening up programming our offices do remain closed and we are working from home. We are in the process of setting up better lines of communication between families and our staff and we so appreciate your patience as we work through that. The best way to reach us is at education@greaterbostonstage.org. If you would like to set up a phone call, please email us first to set up a time to chat.

Wishing you well and hoping you are eating lots of snacks,
Tyler

ABOUT THE YOUNG COMPANY

The Young Company is Greater Boston Stage Company’s year-round theatre education program for students in grades 1-12, offering artistic training and performance opportunities in a professional setting.

GREATER BOSTON STAGE COMPANY'S EDUCATION MISSION

The Young Company at Greater Boston Stage Company helps the next generation become better artists, better audience members, and better people through theatre education.
VISION
We believe GOOD THEATRE MAKES GOOD PEOPLE.

To create Good Theatre, we are committed to:
  • Creating a collaborative, process-oriented and professional artistic environment.
  • Hiring the best Boston-based professional teaching artists who specialize in navigating the intersection of education and high-level theatrical art.
  • Examining performance as a collaboration between the artist, the text, and the audience.
  • Developing and implementing an individualized learning approach for each student.

To inspire Good People, we are committed to:

  • Maintaining a safe and friendly working environment in which students can explore their individuality and identity.
  • Fostering the development of engaged citizens and successful young adults by instilling the four habits-of-mind at the core of our curriculum: confidence, empathy, ownership, and agency.
  • Establishing an inclusive environment in which all students (novice and experienced, atypical and neurodiverse populations) can experience the joys of theatre and find personal successes.

Furthermore, the Young Company is committed to:
  • Removing financial barriers to participation by offering a Financial Aid program funded by generous donors.
  • Providing ongoing professional networking and Mainstage performance and employment opportunities to students and alumni who choose to pursue a career in theatre.
